San Francisco is in the middle of a housing affordability crisis, and the Housing Trust Fund is one of the most effective tools we have to fight it. For over a decade, this fund has helped build and preserve affordable homes for teachers, nurses, service workers, seniors, and families who make our city run, without raising taxes on San Franciscans.

Mayor Daniel Lurie joined Supervisor Myrna Melgar, Supervisor Chyanne Chen, Housing Accelerator Fund CEO Rebecca Foster, and community leaders in Chinatown this morning to launch the Yes on Prop C campaign, which renews San Francisco's Housing Trust Fund through 2058 and grows annual funding for affordable housing to as much as $125 million a year, without raising taxes.

Mayor Daniel Lurie, Supervisors Myrna Melgar and Chyanne Chen, and Housing Leaders Kick Off Yes on Prop C in Chinatown

The Housing Trust Fund Renewal leverages state and federal matching dollars at a ratio of at least 3:1, meaning every dollar San Francisco commits helps unlock several more from outside sources

Local dollars shouldn't have to do all the work alone. The Housing Trust Fund Renewal leverages state and federal matching dollars at a ratio of at least 3:1, turning San Francisco's own investment into a much larger pool of funding for affordable housing, without asking local taxpayers to cover the difference.

Every Dollar Working Harder

The Housing Trust Fund Renewal doesn't cost San Franciscans a dime more. It renews funding the city already collects and appropriates each year for housing — it does not create any new tax or raise an existing one.

The Housing Trust Fund Renewal doesn't cost San Franciscans a dime more. It simply renews funding the city already collects, extends it through 2058, and keeps every dollar independently audited and legally dedicated to affordable housing, not redirected without a public vote.

Write a short blurb about an issue your campaign is highlighting. Try to keep the text a similar size between the various issue blurbs.

No New Taxes, Same Commitment

The proposition funds the direct work of converting vacant and blighted lots into real, occupied homes, rather than leaving them as eyesores or missed opportunities in neighborhoods that need housing now.

Vacant lots and crumbling infrastructure don't build themselves. The Housing Trust Fund Renewal converts blighted lots into real housing and funds the roads, sewers, and transit connections new homes depend on, growth that actually works for the neighborhoods it reaches.

Building the City We Actually Need

The Housing Trust Fund Renewal expands downpayment assistance so more of the workforce can actually own a home in the city they serve

Teachers, nurses, and first responders shouldn't have to commute into the city they serve. This measure funds downpayment assistance, rent relief for seniors and at-risk tenants, and support for multigenerational families, so the people who make San Francisco run can actually afford to live here.
